How to Connect Gen-1 Sensors

Modified on Thu, 24 Sep at 11:23 AM

Step 1: Activate the sensors

Wrist sensor

  • If you have old Firmware PLEASE UPDATE THE FIRMWARE through the settings tab to get the most seamless process.
  • If you are using old firmware, touch the metal nodes on the back of the wrist sensor. The red LED will light up to confirm it is on. From there you have 5 minutes to connect.
  • If you have the most recent firmware update, sensors stay active 24/7 and auto-connect when app opens. Sensor should connect on its own simply by putting the sensors on tightly and securely. Just put it on your wrist and you are good to go.

Chest sensor

  • Attach the chest sensor to the strap.
  • Put it on. It will automatically power on when worn and touches the skin.

Step 2: Pair and connect the sensors in the app

        1. Start a workout from Freestyle WOD or a Program WOD.

        2. Tap Connect Sensors.

        3. On the sensor connection screen, the app will scan for available sensors.

        4. When your sensor pair appears, select them.

        5. Rename the sensors when prompted.

        6. Once renamed, the sensors will automatically connect for future workouts.

Important note: Never use IOS settings to connect with sensors. If you already did, please click "Forget" in the iOS settings.

Quick Troubleshooting Steps:

        1. Turn OFF Bluetooth and fully close the WurQ app.

        2. Touch the nodes on the sensors and check if they start blinking (if they do not, you might

need to replace the battery - a rare case)

        3. If the sensors are blinking, reopen the app and turn ON Bluetooth. They should now appear               in the app and be ready to connect.

- The Sensors remain active for 1 minute for you to connect them.
- If you're unable to connect within that time, please touch the nodes of the wrist sensor to reactivate it.

If for any reason, you're unable to view the sensor check "How to Reset the sensors"

Do's and Don'ts when connecting sensors:

✅ Do’s

UPDATE YOUR FIRMWARE IF YOU HAVEN'T!

  1. Activate the sensors before connecting

    • Touch the metal nodes on the wrist sensor to turn it on, ONLY IF FIRMWARE IS STILL NOT UPDATED

    • If firmware is updated, just. put the sensors on and they will activate themselves since they are active 24/7

    • The RED LIGHT will light up to confirm it is active.

  2. Ensure proper placement

    • Wear the wrist sensor securely on your RIGHT WRIST with the sticker facing upright.

    • Position the chest sensor snugly against your skin, right below your chest for reliable data.

  3. Use the WurQ app to connect

    • Always connect sensors from within the WurQ app.

    • Make sure Bluetooth is turned on before tapping Connect Sensors.

  4. Ensure proper placement Connect within the active window

    • During this time, they should appear on the Sensor Connection screen in the app.
    • If they do not appear, touch the wrist sensor nodes to reactivate or take sensors off and put them back on. If they still do not appear, close to the app, turn your iPhone's bluetooth off and back on then try again.

❌ Don’ts

  1. Do not wear the sensors upside down

    • Incorrect orientation can impact detection and accuracy.

  2. Do not swap sensor positions

    • Each sensor has a specific role. Wrist and chest sensors are not interchangeable.

  3. Do not wear sensors loosely

    • Loose sensors can lead to connection issues and missed or inaccurate data.

  4. Do not pair sensors through iPhone Bluetooth settings

    • Sensors must be paired and connected only through the WurQ app.

If you’re still having trouble connecting, touch the wrist sensor nodes again and retry from the Sensor Connection screen. If the issue persists, WurQ Support is here to help. Access the In-app chat support.
